Supreme Court rejected the request of Attorney General to form a full court
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court of Pakistan would conduct a hearing on Monday, April 3, at the request of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) regarding the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
The hearing would be held at 11:30am in front of a three-member special bench consisting of Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan, and Justice Muneeb Akhtar.
The court had previously called for a reply from the secretary of finance and the secretary of interior.
Justice Aminuddin Khan excused himself from the case on the fourth hearing, and Justice Jamal Mandokhail did the same on the fifth hearing, causing the bench to break up twice after both judges apologized.
At the last hearing, the Supreme Court rejected the request of the Attorney General to form a full court.
The arguments of Tehreek-e-Insaf lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar and election commission lawyer Sajeel Swati were completed.
On Monday, the Attorney General, the Punjab caretaker government's lawyer, and the Governor of KP's lawyer would present their arguments.
During the previous hearing, Chief Justice Bandial said in his remarks that there would be important good news on Monday.
He also got emotional at one point and said that he, too, has a heart and emotions. He warned that anyone who talks about his judges would have to face him.
In the election case, the People's Party, Muslim League (N), and JUI have requested to be parties in the case and for the formation of a full court.
